Well, we changed the crib to a big-girl bed!! It took us a while to decide to do it because she LOVES her crib, but she was starting to straddle the top rail of her crib in an attempt to make the jump, so it was time. It was an afternoon that only her and I were home, so I decided to make the switch myself (easier than I thought it would be). She was in her room watching me the whole time and getting more and more excited by the minute. That night, Josh and I brought the video monitor into the living room to watch her stumble around drunk with freedom---but she shocked us both by doing what she always does at bedtime: she sat up and talked to her stuffed animals, sang Tinkle Wittle Star over and over, laughed at her own jokes, read many books, etc. but DID NOT get out of her bed!!! We were pleasantly surprised, to say the least. Nap times are a little different story some days, but overall, the switch was highly successful and she is pretty proud of her new status as a "big girl". :-)

She's moving on up---to the big girl bed!!!

That is so cool how the crib turns into a toddler bed. So there's a litte doorway for her to get in, but still some slats to keep her from falling on the floor. You know, the Martinek girls all slept in one bedroom--a single bed and bunkbeds. The one who got the single bed had a "bump" blanket on the floor, for when we fell out of bed during the night! I love that story.
ReplyDeleteAnd Miss Tay Tay sleeps in luxury. Oh my goodness. The pillows, the blanket, . . . and I loved reading how she puts herself to sleep with her nighttime rituals. What a sweetheart. She is a "big girl"!
She sure is getting big! I love her monkey blanket! I love her night time rituals too. Especially all the talking to her "friends" and reading to them and now she sings too! She's a fabulous little girl.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that she talks and sings and reads until her version of "cocktail hour" is over and it's time to sleep. Funny I think of her as so big (compared to Sasha) but then I see the picture of her standing by her toddler bed and being dwarfed by it. Little Pumpkin! Did she pose for the pictures?
ReplyDeleteWisco, I think of Bug and Bub as bigger than they are until they are next to something that gives you a sense of proportion. Funny enough, my little 14 lb. Precious always seems bigger than she is until I go to the kennel to pick her up and here's this little dog running toward me. It's like Whaaaa...!? Alo to all of you!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for her. That looks like a pretty cozy bed, what with that big pink pillow and whatnot. I'd say that along with the big girl bed it means no more video monitor (although I'd be curious how she handled the first night too). She has got to be the easiest child there is when it comes to sleep time (at least, I remember whining my head off when I was supposed to take a nap). Congrats to you both!
